Record Breaker

Not in the good way...

By Bobby Berger

The Manchester Monarchs recently broke a long standing AHL record but this is not going to be one to call their families to brag about. The Monarchs were just shut out in 4 straight games. You read that right, no goals in 360 minutes of action. The Monarchs came into the season with a veteran roster, many of whom were on the division winning squad of a year ago. Maybe the let down of not making the pro roster has led to a start of the season swoon?

When asked about the start of the Monarchs season, GM Berger said, "Well, we are in dead last with a 1-7 record down there and these boys couldn't score in a brothel, so I guess it can only really get better." That attitude has been shared by Monarch ticket holders, with the chant of "refund" loudly reverberating around the arena during last 2 home games. We will see if this is going to be a season long pattern, it they turn it around, or if GM Berger will have to shake up this crew
