Just Win Baby!

Kings doing just enough

By Bobby Berger

Well, it has not been pretty in Los Angeles, but wins are wins.  Approaching the halfway mark of the season the Kings sit in first place in the West. One would expect a team that is 8 games over .500 to be firing on all cylinders and tge wins would say you are right, but this is an upside down something straight out of the Sim year.

The Kings currently are -7 in goal differential, yes you read that right, the first place team in the West is in the negatives. Nearly the entire team outside of Jack Eichel and P.K. Subban are also in the negatives on +/- and the Kings have scored the second fewest goals in the West. So what gives?

The Kings have been sticking to the formula of winning tight checking, one goal games while getting boat raced in games the do not show up for. Fortunately, the later has not occurred much, in large part due to the strong goaltending of Viktor Fasth. Many believed this to be Fasth's last year in Los Angeles, but he has turned back the clock, looking like a spry teenager again.

Whatever the formula is, the only thing the team cares about is winning, rereates be damned! The Kings hope to keep their hot play going against a tough Washington team on Tuesday night. Go Kings Go!
