Too Little Too Late

By Duane Goetz

Some of you GMs that have been around for several years like
myself have maybe noticed that I have not been as active as other years as far
as writing articles, line changes and trades.
Well, that is because, I have had challenging seasons with this team in
the past, but this year has been by far the most frustrating.  The year started out so promising, a great preseason,
only to lead to a brutal season, out of playoff contention by the halfway point
of the season. Leading me to blow up the team, take on a total youth movement,
with the wins and loses column showing no change.  But, with all, the team is starting to show a
little scoring and playing at least .500 hockey.

Upfront, youngsters such as Wright, Sillinger, DeBrincat,
and Wiesblatt have had decent years.
Boeser, who is not the “oldman” of the team and is having a career year.

On the point, Romanov and Liljegren are leading the charge of
the young and future blueline tandem.

In the net, Korpisalo has seen more rubber that a New York highway.  One of the positives of that is that it is a guarantee
that the team will hit one of it’s two endorsement deals based on SA.  He is not faced with the problem of saving
himself for the playoffs, maybe next year.

As far as the team’s 2nd endorsement deal,
winning at least 18 home games, there is still an outside chance of reaching
this.

The team acquired Pit’s 1st in this year’s draft,
which looks to me a middle pick, maybe the Pens will du us a favor and go on a
losing streak.
