Team MVP

One player makes a difference

By Bobby Berger

The Los Angeles Kings charged out of the gate to a 4-1-1-1 record behind strong defensive play. The  team hadn't scored more than 4 goals, but were maintaining their winning ways. That was until an injury to Cameron York. York was forced to miss the next 3 games, during which time all defensive structure went out the window. The latest example was the Kings 6-2 loss to Tampa Bay. The Kings were blown out by the Lightning for the 2nd time in 3 games. As a result, it is clear to see that York may be one of the most most important players to the Kings this season.

On the bright side, York will return to his defensive pairing with star defenseman P.K Subban at his side tonight against a tough Columbis Blue Jackets team. York will also slot back into a struggling Kings power play. The Kings have been held scoreless in 10 games on the power play. In addition to the reintrgration of York, the Kings will try to shake up the PP by moving Jared McCann up to the top PP line, replacing Jack Eichel. The hope is for anything to really shake loose.  It can't get much worse than the last 3 games, so we will see how York impacts the Kimgs performance going g forward.
