Strange Season Continues

Shake-ups starting to lead to positive results

By Bobby Berger

The Los Angeles Kings have had a very strange first quarter to the season. The Kings are the lowest scoring team in the FNHL amd have a negative goal differential, yet have a winning record. Much of that has been because the Kings have been winning games with low margins of victory yet losing by wide margins.

The Kings made some drastic changes 3 games ago and the results have started to improve. In two wins and one tie the Kings have put up 12 goals. Those chamhes included moving veteran Mark Psysk up to the first line with PK Subban, dropping Cameron York to the 2nd line and moving young dman Vince Dunn down to the 3rd line. Up front the Kings focused on more balance by breaking up a young 3rd line and sprinkling youngsters into their top 2. Liam Ohgren has responded with 3 assists in his last 2 games.

The ironic part of the season has been comparing the Kings with their AHL compatriots in Manchester. The Monarchs have been flying this season amd lighting the lamp at a break-neck pace. The Monarchs have the most goals in the West, and the second most goals in the entire AHL. The big boys hope to emulate that when Montreal comes to town tomorrow l.
