Kings Season Preview

Kings look to take next steps

By Bobby Berger

The Los Angeles Kings are looking to finally make it out of the first round of the playoffs this season. The last few years LA has gone from a bubble team to a solid contender in the West, but as of yet have not been able to break through to round 2.

The Kings decided to run it back with a large portion of their talent up front. Down the middle the Kings have one of the best 1-2 punches in Jared McCann and Jack Eichel. Both had solid seasons last year and the Kings will look for them to repeat or add on to their performances. The biggest additions up front will be the additions of farm stars Noah Ostlund and Liam Ohgren. Both had great AHL seasons and look to anchor a young 3rd line. The Kings also picked up defensive center Elias Lindholm as a depth piece and solid penalty killer amd Janne Tolvanen on waiver to bolster their depth.

On the back end Seth Jones finally took the next step so many had been waiting for with a breakout campaign last year. The Kings will rely on him and superstar P.K. Subban to support their young but talented supporting cast of Cameron York amd Vinve Dunn. The Kings spent big in free agency to lock in defensive stalwart Mark Psysyk for another year. He should be a solid 3rd line d pairing and help out last year's average penalty kill.

These additions also allowed the Kings to let David Reinbacher and Matvei Michkov have another year of seasoning in the minors. The Kings hope their young core surrounded by some solid vets will finally be the key that u locks a long playoff run.

That's all from LA. Let's drop that puck!
