The Los Angeles Kings made waves during the trade deadline making two big deals. The Kings have been sellers or cautious buyers in years prior under GM Berger, but this year as their potential playoff position solidified, they felt they could make some more moves. "We have a lot of young players both in the line up as well as on the way up, so we felt we could move some draft capital" said GM Berger.
In the first move the Kings traded a 1 this year and D Jake McCabe for defensive stalwart Mark Psysk. Psysk brings that physical, defense first mentality to really solidfy the top 4. This allows rookie defneseman Vince Dunn to ease back on his use a bit.
In a second deal the Kings obtained star forward Louis Leblanc and defenseman David Rundblad from Florida in exchange for 2 second round picks as well as Carson Lambos and Radek Faksa. This deal really solidifed depth at the forward position and Rundblad rounds out the 3rd line d along with the power play.
The Kings felt like it was mostly wide open West and are hoping for their first playoff series win under GM Berger. Anything can happen in the FNHL, so buckle up LA!
