In The Middle

Kings treading water

By Bobby Berger

The Los Angeles Kings have continued their legacy of hanging tight around the #8 playoff spot, or to quote the band Jimmy Eat World, "The Middle".  The Kings have been streaky thus far this year as demonstrated by their recent run of winning 4 in a row followed by losing 2 very winnable games against Chicago amd Pittsburgh. As a result, the Kings have tried to shake things up a bit, breaking up the line of Eichel, Jarventine, and Gurianov. Jared McCann has been moved to the second line to center Jarventine and Gurianov, while Eichel has been moved up to line one with Raddysh and Tufte. The hope is to elevate the entire team.

However, it may seem like goal scoring really hasn't been the achillies heal of the team this season, but rather the defense. There aren't many apparent lineup moves to be made there, so the Kings are likely to explore the trade market to improve the back end. One name potentially on the block is Carson Lambos. The Kings are looking to package him with veteran stalwart Radek Faksa for a solid return.

We will see which direction the season takes. My money is on the middle!
