Islanders season keeps rolling

By Marnix

Quarterly reviews were in full swing in head office today as GM Vanturennout and his staff had a quarterly meeting to see how things are progressing this season.   So far Islanders fans have a lot to cheer about getting off to a strong start and showing no signs of slowing down.

The money and time the team invested in prospect Bode Wilde is seeing huge dividends now as the now #1 dman is having a solid season in goals and points playing in every situation.   The top line has cooled down a bit but still are finding ways to contribute to wins, bit the biggest win so far is the stellar play of veteran netminder Richard Bachman who the coach is playing a ton.

If the Islanders keep this pace up they will coast right into the playoffs where anything could happen.  Vanturennout will have some decisions to make closer to the deadline as the team plans to go into a decent rebuild which means one playoff season may not be worth selling off some assets for draft capital as they keep finding ways to build a solid foundation for the next chapter of Islanders hockey.
