Monarchs playing lights out

By Bobby Berger

With the season hitting the quarter mark and the big club hovering around the #8 spot as per usual, we the people at Kings Monthly thought it best to check in on the farm team, the Manchester Monarchs. The team is tied for the most points in the Western Conference with 29 through 21 games. The Monarchs have been doing it with one word, offense. The team has scored 175 goals thus far, making them one of the top 3-4 teams in the AHL. The defense has left a bit to be desired, but a win is a win after all.

As to individuals a whopping 14 players are on a point per game pace, and no player has fewer than 12 points. Some bright spots are youngsters Matvei Michkov who has 28 points thus far after being taken in the first round as well as Noah Ostlund and his 27 points (acquired in a deal with Toronto last year) and previous 1st round pick Liam Ohgren. We will see if the youngsters can keep up their blistering pace as the season progresses.
