Love the Restart

By Duane Goetz

Well, the roller coaster season in Carolina has settled out
to a surprisingly good result.

After a promising preseason the team came out of the gate
with a brutal 0-4 start, a hole of which would be very difficult to dig out
of.  Management was at a loss as to why
all facets of the team were performing so poorly.

Then the SIM gods smiled down on me and because of technical
problems with the SIM the league was going to have to be restarted……a fact more
than welcomed in Hurricane land.

After about ¼ into the new restarted season, the team finds
itself tied for first overall with a record of 13-4-2 after 19 games played and
team’s play seems to be picking up.
Early on the team was squeaking out very tight one goal wins, but lately
the goals seem to be coming easier, while the goaltending continues to be
solid.

Rookie Korpisalo has taking over the number one role after
Rask retired at the end of last year and has taking on the challenge head on,
leading the league in wins and in many top goaltending categories.

Up front, Jake Virtanen has paced the team in point with 22
points in just 19 games, with 9 goals and 2 game winners.  On the blueline, Morgen Riley has started the
year very strongly with 13 points and a +13 in those 19 games.  His partner on the blueline, Miro Heiskanen,
supports 12 p[points and a +12 rating.

Whether the team can keep up this level of play will be
shown in the next grouping of games.
