Today was a big day in the Big Apple, the Islanders longtime search for a new GM has come to an end after countless interviews to find the right fit. In the end it was experience that won ownership over with the announcement today that long time FHL GM Marnix Vanturennout would be the guy to lead this franchise back to the top of the mountain. Today Marnix sat down with the media to give a statement on what Islanders fans can expect from his staff. Listen in, "I am very excited to apart of this historic franchise and would like to thank the ownership group, media, and all the fans for welcoming me to be apart of the next chapter in Islanders history. Getting involved with a new league requires a bit of patience to see what is in front of us and where we need to go, but one thing I can promise you is by the end of this season you will start to see the next wave of Islanders pave the way for what will be a new foundation to build on the goal of a forth championship banner. We are going to put a ton of resources in our scouting and player development so we are not paying the price to acquire big pieces but rather building and molding the type of leaders we need in the locker room and on the ice. We are going to be working very closely with our coaches in Bridgeport to make sure our guys know the systems we are running in the pros and what we need them to work on to get to the next level.
