Which team will Showup

By Duane Goetz

Well, another week and time to see which version of this
Canes team has been patrolling the ice currently.  Is it the hard working, solid effort, and responsible
team that the fans love to watch or is it the tentative, coasting, and
effortless group that appear like they would rather be sitting on the couch at
home than playing in a hockey game.

After a week of solid play and putting together a very
respectable game 10 record of 7-3-1, this version of the Canes slipped back
into a version of themselves that has resulted in a 2-5-3 record in the last 10
games played.  Is there anything more
frustrating than ties? Well, this team is punishing their faithful with 9 ties
in their 32 games so far this season.
The coaching staff sees this as a result of that extra effort just not
being there to get them over that hump.

This current stretch of play has resulted in the team
falling from a semi-comfortable playoff spot to being 4 points out of a playoff
spot with 3 team to jump over to get there.
This appears to be a pivotal spot for his team, if the distance from
playoffs gets much bigger it may be too hard to overcome.

One bright spot has been the play of backup goalie Peter
Delmas who was brought in this offseason.
With a record of 5-4-2 in his 11 starts, which may not look like much,
but the team has not come to play in front of him more times that not.  He does have a SA% of .911, which is more than
respectable.
