The Los Angeles Kings are off to a 6-4 start to the season. This has surprisingly been based on an unbalanced attack. The first line of Radek Faksa, Jared McCann, and Taylor Raddysh has really gelled. McCann and Raddysh are both in the top 5 in the league in scoring with 13 points each. McCann is also added an incredible +14. The Kings will need their second line to step up if they hope to stay in playoff contention.
There were discussions last year about McCann's future with the club, but he committed to a 4 year deal in the offseason. "There is no place else I want to play. I won Rookie of the Year here, and intend to push this organization toward the cup." The stress taken off McCann by signing that deal has definitely showed early in the season.
The other unexpected boost the Kings have received is from former 1st round pick, goalie Sebastian Cossa. Cossa was expected to be the number 2 goalie this season, likely getting 40% of the starts, however with his exceptional performance, and the disappointing start of veteran stalwart Viktor Fasth, Cossa has seen an uptick in the amount of games he is playing. It remains to be seen if he can keep it going, or if Fasth will come storming back.
