Flyers Extend Undefeated Streak to 7

By Julian B

Going into Mondays contest the Flyers were undefeated in their prior six contests (4-0-2). The boys in orange and black were hungry for more as they continue to drive themselves back into the playoff picture. Richard Bachman got the nod after Justus Annunen had earned a 2-2 tie the night prior vs the Sabres. The first 20 was a mostly defensive showing from both clubs which saw just one goal as Lukas Reichel gave the Isles the lead at 14:49. The Flyers came out strong in the 2nd with a first minute goal from Dylan Larkin, capped off by another Larkin marker at 10:58. The Flyers would take a 2-1 lead into the 2nd intermission. The 3rd period was a dominant 20 by Philly who put 14 shots on Riku Helenius and scored on three (Baertschi and two from Backstrom). The final score was 5-1 for Philly extending their undefeated streak to seven games.

Three Stars: Sven Baerschi, Dylan larkin, & Cody Franson.

Philly improved to 22-20-6 and sit just one point back of 8th place Detroit and still just 10 points back of the conference leading Ottawa Senators.

Next up: The Flyers travel to Vancouver to take on the Canucks (24-19-5-1). The Canucks are lead offensively by Peter Mueller (20G, 28A). The puck drops tomorrow at 4:00pm.
