Earlier this week the Flyers made a deal to strengthen their depth. As they prepare to defend the cup this post-season, Philly management struck a deal with the San Jose Sharks. Joining Philly is 21 year vet Dana Tyrell. The 38 year old has been a staple in the FNHL amassing 501 goals and 731 assists for 1232 points. Tyrell will center the 3rd line to start his journey with the Flyers. Going to the Sharks is promising rookie Francesco Pinelli and cap casualty Nicholas Merkley. Pinelli should shine with the youth movement in San Jose and is slated to be their #1 center for the time being.
The Flyers are hoping Tyrell's wealth of experience and leadership will provide a boost for the rest of the campaign and give Philly a true three line scoring presence. Dana's passing ability and all around skill-set may prove to be a match to what the Flyers had in Jonathan Toews during their cup win last post-season.
The lines for their next contest are projected as; Larkin - Raymond - Zadina / Rubtsov - Kostitsyn - Thompson / Tyrell - Kane - Smith. There are still two days to go before the deadline bell is rung, expect the Flyers to be in on potentially one more forward upgrade and/or a defensive upgrade over Jokipaaka. The club is actively sending trade proposals. Stay tuned.
