Panthers Sit in 29th Place

By Toby Rice

No, that headline isn't a typo. Yes, the Florida Panthers' roster features 10 players rated 80ov and above. So then, why are they two points away from the league's worst team? Your guess is as good as ours. The Panthers' record of 5-13-3 is good for 13 points, and the gap between them and the playoffs is at 9 points.

"We're not where we want to be," said the Panthers coach. "We're not where we thought we'd be, actually. I don't mean that in any specific way, but this roster is too good for last place, or wherever we are right now."

The Panthers might as well be in last place with the way they've played. After such an exciting offseason, they find themselves off to possibly the worst start in franchise history.

"I can't comment on the trade front," said the Panthers general manager. "We're evaluating. We're hoping things change. We really shouldn't be in this situation."

The media and fans are growing more frustrated with this team as time goes on. Will we ever see some changes to get this team going?

"We're just as frustrated as you are. The players, the coaches, our front office. We want to win." While that isn't an answer with any action, one thing is clear. Everyone understands that the time to win is now and something may need to be done soon to accomplish that.
