A bottom six left wing was the missing piece at the trade deadline. After the Panthers added Dustin Jeffrey (C), David Backes (C), and Timo Meier (RW), they failed to get that needed left winger to round out their roster heading into the playoffs. Until a few days after the deadline. The 26 year old Martin Reway became available on waivers, and he was the missing piece the Panthers needed. The bottom six forward has a strong skillset in scoring, puck control, and passing.
"We're delighted to find a player like that available this close to the playoffs," said the Panthers' coach. "Any time you can add to the talent pool is a great opportunity."
Should the Panthers make the playoffs, which is still a challenge, the team could see reinforcements from the Rochester Americans. Rookies Isak Rosen (C), Logan Stankoven (C), Sam Colangelo (RW), and Brandt Clarke (D) are all names to watch out for. These four will surely be called up to the "black aces" and possibly find themselves in the starting lineup. Each one of them is playing for a roster spot next season, so we expect to see their best if they crack the lineup.
"The great thing is that we have a solid partner down in the AHL. They've been developing players for us for years. Look at our team now, anyone who is 'homegrown' spent time in Rochester. The next wave is pushing their way through, and some of them might be able to make an impact this season."
