Panthers Off to Good Start

By Toby Rice

The start of the FNHL season for the Florida Panthers can be classified as good, not great. With a record of 9-6-1, Florida sees themselves with 19 points and a spot in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.

"We're about where we expected to be." said the Panthers coach. "We of course want to be at the top of the standings, but we've got a group of new players and the synergy could take a bit."

The 20 game mark is usually a spot in the season that many teams take time to review their dynamics. Some clubs are already making moves. Will we see any moves coming in Florida?

"You know, we've been approached with adding a big name or two," said Florida's GM. "However, we're right at the cap, we're playing well, and I'm not sure we'll be making any significant moves."

Florida's brass seems confident in the group of players assembled for this season. Newcomer Giordano and rookie Svechnikov are both playing a major role already. "It's great to see. Gio, Svech, even Ellerby. The guys we were hoping would add to this team are doing it. It's fun to watch, and we're looking forward to whatever this season brings us."

Florida lost their first in the last five games last night in Nashville. They hope to rebound tonight at home against the Minnesota Wild.
