Flyers Take Part in Trade Frenzy

By Julian B

As the trade deadline came into full swing on Friday, the Philadelphia Flyers had some feelers out on possible deals to strengthen their roster. Talks had begin between Philly and a few other clubs looking to gain a net positive from the trading frenzy. The first deal completed by the Flyers came together early Saturday morning. Philly had been eyeing a mix-up on the right side. Goal scoring had been stale from their right wingers for the majority of the season, this led to Evgeni Dadonov leaving the Flyers in a deal which saw long time Avalanche Mitch Wahl join Philly's playoff hopes. Not so long after, a deal was struck with the struggling Ottawa Senators who were looking to off-load expiring players in order to build towards their future. The Flyers sent DAL 2nd this draft and cash to Ottawa for veteran backup goalie Jonas Hiller. Their latest deal was also with the Senators which saw defender Erik Gustafsson join Philly in exchange of their first round pick this draft, Ottawa's own third and Max Nicastro.

Philly has another day off tomorrow before getting back into game action on Tuesday vs Arizona. Expect Wahl, Gustafsson and Hiller to be dressed and ready to impress.
