Getting Better

By Julian B

With a decent record of 6-3-1 in their last 10, the Flyers seem to have figured something out. Management remains on the fence with the current lineup keeping that type of record going but at the near half-way mark it seems the Flyers are making a push. Phone lines open up for different reasons when playoffs are back on the menu. The Flyers have been poking around at a few trade opportunities yet nothing has come to fruition to beef up the roster. Tage Thompson has cooled off, recording just two points in his last 10 games before being over a point a game prior. There has been a lot more scoring from the clubs supporting cast which is always nice to see. Goaltending has improved immensely. Both Jones and Annunen were over a 3.00 GAA prior to the five game win-streak. Jones is stealing the show thus far with two shutouts, a 2.58 GAA and 0.909 S%. Annunen has been good in his own right providing strong backup performances in the more recent of his 16 appearances.

Next up, the Flyers head to Edmonton to take on a resurging Oilers club who seem to have struck gold after stealing two high quality players (Holloway and Lee) from The Devils earlier this season.
