Playoff Hopeful

By Julian B

Over the next week the Flyers hope to lock down a playoff position. Their current cushion is just five points. Not a comfortable position but certainly something they easily would have taken a month ago when they were hovering between 8th and 10th in the east. The trade deadline move to bring in Jonathan Toews from Minnesota has proved to be worthless thus far. The vet has just one point in his 10 games with the Flyers; a stretch of games resulting in just four wins. It is shocking how a 1341 points vet can produce next to nothing for a club with several offensive weapons. But that goes to show you to not overpay for anything because there are no sure things in this league. As the Flyers head into a critical week they will face the Montreal Canadiens, San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins and the LA Kings. Arguably some winnable games coming up for a team hoping to end the incredible inconsistency experienced this season. Perhaps some line changes to shake up the chemistry is in order. Tune in for the sweat inducing final stretch of the regular season. Good luck to those trying to hop over the playoff line.
