Dallas Ends Long Road Trip

Stars Top the Oilers 4-1 in Dallas

By Ethan Smedley

The Dallas Stars have defeated the Edmonton Oilers, 4-1 in American Airlines Center.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi finally nets his first goal of the year and it comes early in the 1st period with helpers from Joshua Ho-Sang and Mirco Mueller who has been playing very well with Parayko as his right-hand man.

The Oilers tied it up in the 2nd but that lasted 45 seconds before Lucas Lessio netted yet another goal. Jesper Fast scores on a breakaway just two minutes later and from that point on it was all the Stars. But the main topic has to be Calle Clang. It's a great story as he was taken with the Stars 3rd Round pick in GM Smedley's first ever draft and now seven years later he finds himself as the team's main backup.

"Looking back on the offseason Jon {Quick} let us know early he was moving on and even with all the cheap options in free agency I wanted to give the kid a shot before it was too late." - GM Smedley

A main focal point of this season was limiting Micky D's starts as stats show he just plays better in the 54-60 games started range and Calle in his first three professional starts has done nothing but earned himself more with phenomenal performances against the Wild and Oilers. Another key story so far in Dallas is management saw a Sean Monahan injury to start the stretch of games and he never fully recovered to 100%, with tomorrows off-day Monahan should be back to 100% just in time to face his old organization.
