League Wide - Power Rankings

By Ethan Smedley

The 2033 FNHL Power Rankings/Tier List:

The Heavy, Heavy Favorites (1-3): For as long as these three GMs are in the league they will be at the very top of every power ranking and the past few playoff results show.

1. Columbus Blue Jackets

2. Minnesota Wild

3. Montreal Canadiens

Real Cup Contenders (4-8): If the top three GMs were other people than these teams would be at the top.

Philly has two cups in the last six years with consistent regular and postseason domination.

The Preds are the Preds and still have three of the top seven highest rated skaters with a plentiful amount of cups to show for in the last decade.

This Kings team is my personal favorite on paper and I truly think its the best roster they have put together in my eight seasons in the league, the team has depth, firepower and is built to win.

The Capitals are led by veteran GM Moreno who seems to always put together fantastic rosters and this year is no different as I expect the Caps to go far in the playoffs.

Similarly the Red Wings have made some great runs in the postseason and usually find themselves in contention for the Atlantic Division Title.

4. Philadelphia Flyers

5. Nashville Predators

6. Los Angeles Kings

7. Washington Capitals

8. Detroit Red Wings

Division Title Contenders (9-15): The common theme here with these teams is solely they are not in the Metro or Central Divisions which I think we can all agree have clear cut winners.

The Flames backbone has been Subban for as long as I can remember but with the emergence of Colangelo and Rutger this team will be dangerous in the Pacific.

Bruins are riding the success of newer GM Mike Ramsey and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon as this roster is built to compete in the Atlantic.

The Panthers made some moves this season and made a needed change in net, it purely all comes down to the young guns and how they perform this season.

The Vancouver Canucks are without the great Graham at helm this season but the roster is still phenomenal especially their forward group. I think they will compete for the Pacific still as they usually do.

The Mighty Anaheim Ducks have exceeded expectations the past two seasons and with the depth of their forwards and McAvoy playing at a high level they wont be slowing down.

The Golden Knights were apart of a massive trade that reshaped the Western Conference and I think in the first season after they are set up best to win.

With Spencer Knight the Seattle Kraken will always be competing for at least a wild card spot and with some key veterans I think they’ll do a little more than that.

9. Calgary Flames

10. Boston Bruins

11. Florida Panthers

12. Vancouver Canucks

13. Anaheim Ducks

14. Las Vegas Golden Knights

15. Seattle Kraken

The Wildcards (16-25): These teams here are what I expect to be the biggest movers on power rankings as these teams have low floors but really high ceilings as well.

The Tampa Bay Lightning made some bigggg moves to take that next step towards the cup, the big question is can Bedard continue his success following the Calder win.

Jeff has quietly built this Rangers team into something scary and I think they are one stellar Wallstedt season away from seriously contending in the Metro.

The Chicago Blackhawks have new management this season and had a ton of longtime Hawks being traded out, expectations are wide open.

My Dallas Stars have had some real lackluster management these past two years and look to change it around with what looks like the best Dman core among this tier.

My rival Coyotes are riding with Primeau full time and that will be the big decider of the outcome on this season.

The Penguins with above average defensemen play can easily find themselves in a playoff spot.

Devils commonly find themselves with a great roster that just slightly underperforms but with Greiss in net I think they can make some noise in the East.

Where to begin with the Canes, this team is so vastly different from the beginning of last season I genuinely have no clue what to expect but I do know the Canes are always streaky and if they get hot I have no doubt they will compete for a playoff spot.

A former dominant force in the Central is the Jets who still have a roster to compete just will need more consistency moving forward.

Islanders are certainly moving in the right direction and seem to be only a season or two away from being back in the promise land but who knows with Howden and Panarin as it could happen as early as this year.

16. Tampa Bay Lightning

17. New York Rangers

18. Chicago Blackhawks

19. Dallas Stars

20. Arizona Coyotes

21. Pittsburgh Penguins

22. New Jersey Devils

23. Carolina Hurricanes

24. Winnipeg Jets

25. New York Islanders

New Comers (26-32): Everyone knows JvT's Oilers would be much higher with a full offseason of work and with a few more trades I know they'll be back competing for the Pacific. As for the rest in this tier its a common theme of new GM's in respect to the FNHL who have taken over rosters/teams trending in the wrong direction.

26. Edmonton Oilers

27. Buffalo Sabres

28. Ottawa Senators

29. Toronto Maple Leafs

30. Colorado Avalanche

31. St. Louis Blues

32. San Jose Sharks
