Another disappointing season settles in Dallas as the Stars managed to only obtained 66 points on the year. The main problem all year was they couldn’t stop the puck from going in, allowing 273 goals which resulted in the fourth worst in the entire league. GM Smedley has all of his defenseman other than Olli Juolevi with expiring contracts and even said himself that “change will be occurring, this roster is going to look completely different on opening might against the Blue Jackets”. One change fans can expect is the organizations number one prospect Vladislav Gavrikov to be on the pro roster on that first night of the new year.
The real only bright side of this season was the team went 2/2 on endorsements as Sean Monahan surpassed the assists mark and Mason McDonald was able to complete his CCM endorsement. The money will be pivotal in allowing both Chibrikov and Gavrikov to advance in their development. Up top the team plans to make change knowing that a second line center is much needed whether it’s from free agency or trade it has happen. With the team now being two seasons removed from their recent playoff berth management is looking to do anything to get this team back to where they know they can be, meaning trades even involving their big name players could very well happen.
