Worse Slide of the Season

By Duane Goetz

Well there has been a real dose of reality that has slapped the Carolina faithful in the face with a worst slide of the season, going 1-8-1 in the team's last ten games.

At the time of the last article the team was in 2nd place overall in the FNHL, but after this stretch of poor play and just as poor results, the Canes find themselves in the position of  7th overall and second in their conference.
It is difficult to pinpoint the exact issue causing the team's poor results as of late, but goaltending being provided by Korpisalo has just not been up to the level during the first twenty games of the season.  There are many exports saying that he is tired and has been overplayed.  The team has been trying to give the young goalie more and more rest.  The team can not complain about his backup, Kinkaid's play on the other hand as it has been very reliable.
Up front, there has alos been a dip with the team's offensive output as a whole.  Boeser continues to score at an over a point a game pace and is on pace for a career year.
Dman Heiskanen has been in the Norris conversation for the entire season, even though his play over the past handful of games has slide a little, he did score today and was a plus one.
Management is hopeful that today victory will kick-start the team on the road to the strong play that they came out of the gate with.
