Flyers Hanging Around

By Julian B

The season is just 25 games young and the Flyers continue to hang around the uncomfortable zone of the Eastern Conference. At 12-9-3-1 the club has let some games go to the wayside with poor defensive performances, mostly in front of backup Justus Annunen. Veteran addition Sergei Kostitsyn owns a six game point steak with two goals and six assists in that span.

Last game, the Flyers got some big help offensively as they topped the Panthers 7-4. Center Dylan Larkin scored four goals for the first time in his career while rookie Givani Smith had a career night to one goal and four assists. There is a three way tie for team points lead at 22; Filip Zadina, Lucas Raymond and Givani Smith. Martin Jones has staked claim between the pipes with just average stats of 2.87 GAA and .903 S%. Still a lot left to be desired outside of the teams offensive output.

On the farm side of the equation, Oliver Kapanen leads the way offensively with 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points in 25 appearances. Goaltender David Rittich sits at a perfect 10-0-0 record and 2.13 S%.

Next up, Philly plays host to the New York Rangers. Both clubs share the same record.
