Well, here we go again, another new and exciting season is
upon us and full of hope and promise.
After a .500 preseason, which is actually a good thing as no
one wants to win too much during preseason, seems to be directly related to a
crappy season in the future. So far with
3 games in the books and a 1-1-1 record, things could not be more mediocre. Not to mention, 8 goals scored, and 9 goals
given up, very, very average in all categories.
On a positive note the team is receiving very balanced
scoring with Boeser, Vilardi, Virtanen, and Karlsson all leading the team with
3 points in 3 games. The team does need
to pick up the goal scoring pace, the shots have been there and things are on
pace to improve.
The blueline is once again being lead by Heiskanen, along
with ufa pickup Reilly, both with 2 points and a positive plus/minus
rating. The 2nd pairing of
Brannstrom and Juolevi has been struggling, but being so early in the season
management must be patient.
The big question going into this season has been in net with
the retirement of Rask and rookie Korpisalo being relied upon to take over the
number one position. After a very
promising preseason, he has continued his strong play with a .908 SA%.
The team is currently on a 2 day break in the season, giving
the coaching staff an opportunity to work on the PP and PK. Not too mention some activities to improve on
team bonding as the team did lose a number of big parts on the locker room in Ovi
and Rask, not to mention others.
