What an off-season for the Caps

By Moreno Zuccolo

The Faces of the Franchise Changed!

GM Moreno didn’t take it well when he missed the playoffs last year and  was prepared to make major changes in the off-season and that’s exactly what he did! In one of the most busiest season in franchise history, GM Moreno made 5 trades to completely change the face of the franchise, trades that saw long time Caps player move to other cities.

Out: John Tavares , Jack Campbell, Slater Koekkoek, Erik Gudbranson , Alex Wennberg, Torey Krug , Daniel Sprong and Alexander Burmistrov

In: Patrick Laine, Anton Olsson, Quinn Schmiemann, Hugo Alnefelt, 4 x 1st round picks, 2 x 2nd round picks and 5.5M$

Not only the Caps received in what we hope a future superstar in Laine but also gather multiple prospects at different position, multiple 1st rounders in a special 2029 FNHL Drafts and most importantly cleared a lot of cap space to sign their top upcoming stars like Sergachev, Kakko, Jones and Shestyorkin who will be the NEW face of the franchise for years to come.

“Even if we lost all those stars, we will be a competitive team night in and night out. It’s time for our young players to take over and apply what they learned from our veterans over the years. We made a investment in them and the league will see what they are made off. The box scores will look different that’s for sure “ said GM Moreno

Words out of Washington is that the team is not done. They will be looking at the UFA class and already made several RFA offers. With 8M$ in cap space, GM More can still make some noise in an already busy off season
