Kings continue downward trend

By Bobby Berger

The Los Angeles Kings have continued their losing ways, dropping their last three. The frustrating part is that all games have been close, but it appears the Kings are finding new ways each game to lose. For example, the Kings lost 3-2 to Calgary, a game where they let up two power play goals on four chances. The Kings PK had been a bright spot. The game prior against the Vancouver Canucks, the Kings went 1 for 9 on the power play. At the high level of the FNHL, errors get magnified, and until the Kings figure out how to do the little things correctly, they will continue to lose close games.

The Kings further need their star goalie Viktor Fasth to start playing like the keeper he has been. This season Fasth’s save percentage has plummeted. The Kings are actually on pace to allow fewer shots this season, yet Fasth’s save percentage is almost .1 worse. The Kings need the big netminder to step up and grab the oars to right the ship. Otherwise, the Kings will be looking to unload veteran contracts around the trade deadline in order to make playing time for upcoming rookies.
