Kings Make Shocking Deal

Zegras traded to Toronto

By Bobby Berger

The Los Angeles Kings started the with an explosive start, leading the West through the quarter mark. However, as amazing of a start as it was, the second quarter of the season has been an equal nightmare. The Kings have not won in their last 11 contests, losing 6 and tying 5.

As a result, GM Berger was pondering various moves when approached by Toronto. The Kings originally had no interest in moving budding star Trevor Zegras, however the ability to bolster the team in both the present and the future were too much to pass up.

Zegras went to the Leafs along with a 2033 LA 2nd in exchange for Jack Eichel, Noah Ostlund, and TOR 2031 1st. According to GM Berger, "Jack is in his prime and there aren't many balanced players like him out there. He brings that d first mentality we need." The Kings augment their future with both a former 1st round pick in Ostlund as well as a 1st round pick next year. At the end of the day losing a player like Zegras hurts, but LA hopes the deal provides the jumpstart they need to get back in the win column.
