Farm Report: Rochester Americans

By Toby Rice

After a sluggish start to the season, the Florida Panthers are slowly turning things around and putting together a few wins. The year has not started the way everyone had hoped, fans, players, and management included. While the big club struggles, let's take a look at how the prospects in Rochester are doing to start the campaign.

While current affairs in South Florida look bleak, the stars of tomorrow are setting the foundation down on the farm. The Rochester Americans are 10-7 with 20 points in 17 games. That record is good for a share of 5th place in the AHL, and in contention for a Calder Cup.

The Americans are currently led by 20 year old Eduard Sale who has put up 27 points. He's followed by several others who have scored more than 20 in this young season. The future is looking bright as the top six scorers on the farm are 21 and younger. While Sale is leading the team, fans are closely watching the development of young center Jett Luchanko. The 19 year old is playing in his second professional season after being drafted 7th overall in the 2032 draft. It is highly anticipated that Jett could earn his way into the NHL with a strong season in Rochester.

Fans in Florida following the AHL season should keep an eye on the following point leaders down in Rochester. Here is your "on watch" prospects to get excited about!
