Today GM Marnix Vanturennout wanted address the media about the first two free agent signings since taking office a few days ago. "Today I am happy to announce the two newest members of the New York Islanders Paul Postma, and Derrick Pouliot. We believe both guys gives us stability on the blueline and can play some big minutes for the upcoming season. I was looking at our roster and the league I tend to notice a surplus of offensive D so these two moves bring a couple of solid two-way D to the lineup. We are expecting Paul to compliment Bode on the top pairing, he should allow Bode more freedom on the ice to lead to more offense, as well as take a big step in his new role with the team this season. We hope Derrick will find chemistry with fellow veteran Eric Johnson to give our second scoring line some more time in the offensive zone. This move also allows us to give one more year to Jack Rathbone in Bridgeport to round out his defensive game, with the playing time he will get down there we expect he will be used in all situations which should help him round out his defensive skill set. I plan on having another media session once workouts conclude so i can give you more details on our plans for next season."
