Changes Made

By Ethan Smedley

Heading into the trade deadline the Dallas Stars sat in the 8 seed for the western conference. GM Smedley knew with how close the West is this year, deals had to be made in order to make a significant run for the playoffs. With that being said three deals were made before the 4 pm deadline. Coming into Dallas are three different rentals that will all play roles on the 3rd line, Powerplay and the Penalty Kill. Simon Despres was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche to boost what is one of the worst PK units in the league, along with playing the 3rd line. Along with Despres is Taylor Doherty who was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers to play the same roles on the team. Finally, GM Smedley decided to reunite a player with this organization, so he made the move to get Tyler Seguin. Earlier in his career the best season and tenure of seasons for Seguin came with the Stars. Management hopes he plays a big role in these final 18 games to help the team make the playoffs. In order to get these deals done GM Smedley sent $2.15 million, a 2032 3rd Round Pick, Alex Laferierre and Guillaume Richard. Changes will be made to the lineup today before taking on the division rival Blackhawks at American Airlines Center.
