Stars Preview

By Ethan Smedley

The Dallas Stars enter this year with confidence, a feeling they haven't had much before to enter a season. Management this offseason had two goals, one being to get rid of Jeff Skinner and the other being to add not subtract. That is exactly what transpired as this team features much the same but also some new. Up top they still have the usual in Kotkaniemi, Tippett, Keller, Sheppard and the captain Jamie Benn. GM Smedley added a speedy skater in Jesper Fast who's been on his radar ever since his 39-39 season in Nashville. He also loved what he saw from Nikita Chibrikov and he will be playing fulltime on the pro roster. The backend will still have Zboril, Juolevi and Beaudin but added tons of depth and replaced Tinordi with a former cup winner in Ryan McDonaugh. Micky D got a 5 year extension and will continue being between the post for the for seeable future. This team is the best on paper it's ever been for GM Smedley's tenure with the young prospects he took over now turning into superstars, the vets gaining playoff experience, and good depth on a team that's been the West's 5th seed in back to back years. Only time will tell how the Dallas Stars season will go.
