Stars Win a Big One

By Ethan Smedley

Going into Wednesday's matchup against the longtime division rival Coyotes, the Stars looked into the playoff picture instead of being apart of it. Dropping 4 of their last 6 with minimal production, so this divisional game was one of the bigger games a team can have midway through the season. But with all that said the Stars ended up taking a 6-4 victory in the American Airlines Center. Although the score tells the tale of what looks like a close game, the Stars were on their A game. Out-shooting the Yotes 34 to 19, including 13 shots in the games opening period. Moving newly acquired defensemen Olli Juolevi to the second line played a massive role as Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Owen Tippett finished with three points a piece. The vet James Sheppard netted two goals for the second consecutive game and Juolevi as well as Beaudin both had helpers. Dallas plans to evaluate the teams next 12 games before the rental period opens to make a judgement of what will happen at the trade deadline. The organization certainly is not selling pieces for the future but with how close the playoff race in the West is, there may be pieces needed to acquire or guys that will be moved in similar deals like Timothy Lilijegren. The Stars have tomorrow off before playing St. Louis & Philadelphia.
