Crossroads in Boston

By Michael Ramsey

As we pass through the quarter mark of the 2028 season, the Bruins find themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. However, over the past week the footsteps have grown louder as over half the teams are within 5 points. The luck appeared to have run out for Boston during a 5-game losing streak but Varlamov and company were able to stop the bleeding with a comeback victory over their talented division rival Detroit Red Wings. Expected to be in the midst of a full-on rebuild, first time GM Mike Ramsey finds himself at a crossroads between pushing forward or re-tooling.

The next month will be crucial for Boston to determine the best path forward. GM Ramsey made some low risk trades to solidify forward depth with veteran C/LW Scott Laughton along with prospects Rudolf Balcers and Jean-Luc Foudy. If the on-ice chemistry continues, then they may make a run at the cup. But if the wheels start to fall off, then the team may have to re-evaluate the roster with some significant moves. Either way, the Bruins seem confident in letting Filip Chytil and top prospect Juraj Slafkovsky help New England cope with the loss of GOAT Tom Brady...stay tuned.
