Halfway Through, No Idea Who We Are

By Adam Harris

The Seattle Kraken hit the halfway point of the regular season sitting comfortably in the playoff race, however the team's identity and its future prospects remain uncertain.

With 46 points, Seattle is primed to surge up to the second seed while also likely not strong enough to make a real playoff run. For a team constructed with a blend of younger talent and savvy UFAs, this presents opportunity and challenge.

"Bottom line," says GM and President Adam Harris, "we are just not scoring enough goals and giving up too many shots. That is a very bad combination."

The team has been actively exploring the market to assess which direction to take. There are rumors the team is open to both blowing it up at the rental period or making a series of hockey moves to recalibrate the team altogether.

"We know we need to do something," says Harris. "But what is not yet clear."

What is clear is that a number of veterans are having career seasons and poised for strong rerates.
