The last 2 game the Wild played were against the floundering St.Louis Blews.. While St. Louis has had some flash of goodness, and the Wild have had a streak of suck, these games mean a bit more as company bragging rights are on the line as both GMs are friends from work...
In game one, the Wild won at home 5-2. McDavid scored his 14th to match his 80 game stats from last year in just 42 games this year. Kane netted a pair to go up to 16, but that wasn't the most impressive part. Duncan Keith put in a pair for his 6th and 7th. But, in addition, the defense itself was all over the stat sheets. Keith potted an assist as did Larsen and Parayko.
In game two, things got Wild and I don't mean the team. In St. Louis this time, MIN struck first as D-man Fistric scored his 5th at 230. 18 seconds later Wild winger Hartman got a Highsticking infraction that led to St. Louis forward Powe repeatedly pounding Hagelin's head against the glass. Hagelin was motionless for minutes before being carted off in a little red wagon to sit in the dark room. He is listed as out with a concussion for a week. Powe received an immediate 5-game suspension which St. Louis GM cried about saying "That Guy Deserves it after putting up 4 assists last night"... STL tied it up midway through, but MIN put the pedal down. Parakyo added his 6th goal on the year in the 2nd, and after STL tied it back up and Nyquist (13) put the Wild in the lead, Parayko scored #s 6 and 7 for his 1st career Hat Trick. Every player except Welsh and Moulson were a + on the stat sheet, with these two ending up even.
Minnesota moves on to Columbus tonight with young up-and-coming Star Alex Debrincat being recalled to fill the open line spot. It will be the 1st time we see him play on the top line with Kane and Denault but our guess is it won't be the last.
