The Fantasy National Hockey League season is producing plenty of individual storylines, with several familiar names and some intriguing surprises making their presence felt atop the league's statistical leaderboards.
Montreal's Michael Dal Colle currently sits at the top of the FNHL scoring race with 72 points, narrowly ahead of Minnesota's Brandon Dubinsky, who has 69. Minnesota's Dylan Holloway follows closely with 68 points, while Michael Sgarbossa of St. Louis and San Jose's Steven Stamkos are tied with 66.
Dal Colle is also among the league's biggest goal producers, with 33 goals, second only to Dylan Holloway's impressive 37. New York Rangers forward Sonny Milano has 31, while Marco Rossi has 29 and Washington's Brendan Brisson has 28.
The scoring race is particularly interesting because the leaders are getting there in different ways. Holloway has combined 37 goals with 31 assists, while Dal Colle has produced 33 goals and 39 assists. Dubinsky has been even more assist-heavy, recording 44 helpers to go with 25 goals.
When it comes to creating offense for teammates, Jack Eichel has separated himself from the field.
The Los Angeles forward leads the FNHL with 52 assists, eight more than Brandon Dubinsky's 44. Vancouver's Elias Pettersson has 43, while Carolina's Ozzy Wiesblatt and New York's Seth Jarvis are tied with 41.
Eichel's assist total puts him firmly among the league's elite offensive producers, even though his name doesn't appear among the top five overall scorers listed on the current leaderboard.
Montreal has another player making an impact in important situations, with Brock McGinn tied with Dal Colle for the FNHL lead in game-winning goals at nine apiece.
The Islanders' Artemi Panarin and Washington's Kaapo Kakko have each scored eight game-winners, while Boston's Anton Lundell has seven.
That gives Montreal two players among the league's top five in game-winning goals, an interesting subplot as the season progresses.
Nashville's Griffin Reinhart has posted the league's best plus/minus at +35, with teammate Vitali Kravtsov next at +29.
Cutter Gauthier of Columbus and Calgary's Kasperi Kapanen are tied at +27, while Jakob Chychrun is at +26.
Nashville's presence at the top of this category is notable, with two players occupying the first two spots.
At the other end of the physical spectrum, Detroit's Connor Hobbs leads the league in penalty minutes with 121, followed by San Jose's Dylan McIlrath at 101. Tyler Madden and Zachary L'Heureux are tied at 92, with Winnipeg's Kyle Jean at 90.
The goaltending leaderboard features another impressive performance from the New York Rangers, as Jesper Wallstedt leads the FNHL with 33 wins.
Ottawa's Connor Hellebuyck is right behind him with 31 wins, while Tampa Bay's Alex Nedeljkovic and Calgary's Malcolm Subban have 30 each. Nashville's Cam Talbot rounds out the top five with 29 wins.
Nedeljkovic and Talbot are also tied for the league lead in shutouts, with seven apiece. Antti Raanta has six, while Drew Commesso and Ville Husso have five each.
The goals-against-average leaderboard is particularly eye-catching. Philadelphia's Justus Annunen currently sits at 0.90 GAA, followed by Chicago's Laurent Brossoit at 1.88 and Montreal's Garret Sparks at 2.00.
Annunen is also leading the FNHL in save percentage at .968, ahead of Brossoit at .940 and Kevin Poulin at .930.
Marco Rossi and Calgary's Rutger McGroarty are tied for the league lead with eight power-play goals. Edmonton's Arrturi Lehkonen, Vegas' Conor Geekie and Columbus' Jeff Skinner have seven apiece.
The shorthanded category has Winnipeg's Nikita Zaitsev leading the way with four, while Lehkonen and San Jose's Sam Steel have three each.
With scoring races separated by only a handful of points and several goaltenders producing standout numbers, the FNHL's individual races remain wide open.
Dal Colle currently has the scoring lead, Holloway has established himself as the league's top goal scorer, Eichel is driving the assist race, and Wallstedt has been a major factor in the crease.
With so many statistical races still tightly packed, the final stretch of Season 2033 could produce plenty of movement before the FNHL's individual leaders are finally decided.
