Busy Offseason in South Florida

By Toby Rice

The offseason leading into the 2033 FNHL season might have been the busiest in recent memory for the Florida Panthers. In a series of trades and signings, some long-time Panthers have been moved in an effort to aggressively make the team better. The Florida Panthers completed four trades and signed Linus Omark to a 3 year deal in free agency, which saw three changes to the top six and a new starting goaltender.

Carolina Hurricanes send Brock Boeser to the Florida Panthers for Ryan Leonard, Kevin Labanc, 2033 FLA Rnd 3
New York Rangers send Veeti Vaisanen to the Florida Panthers for Gabe Smith
Florida Panthers send Matt Murray, Nikolaj Ehlers, Alexander Siryatsky to the Edmonton Oilers for Antti Raanta, Riley Kidney
Tampa Bay Lightning send Isac Lundestrom, 2035 TB Rnd 1, 2036 TB Rnd 2 to the Florida Panthers for Alexis Lafreniere, Brandt Clarke

"It was time for a change," said the long-time Panthers' GM. "We've spent time rebuilding this franchise, and we have the young foundation. We thought bringing in Boeser and signing Omark were good moves to add some veteran leadership. Matt Murray has been here since the beginning, and it was just time for a change of scenery for him. We like Raanta, and with his experience, we're excited to see how this season goes."

The Panthers are building a championship caliber team. There is still some cap space available, so don't be surprised if there are additional moves around the 20 game mark. "We're not afraid to move some assets to make this team better. Our boys down in Rochester are developing very well, and we have some great prospects. If we see an opportunity to make our team better, we won't hesitate to move prospects."
