Boston finally broke out in the 2031 FHNL season, clinching
the Eastern Conference but falling short in a devastating Round 1 defeat by the
surging Carolina Hurricanes. Going into the 3032 season, expectations are
sky-high to grow from last years disappointment and bring another title to
TitleTown! GM Mike Ramsey quickly went to work this offseason, building his
team based on the following motto..."the best players don't win
championships, the best team players win championships."
Most of the top six from last season return looking to improve upon what was
one of the highest scoring teams in the league led by superstar Filip Chytil.
The second year Captain will be flanked by one of the best young scorers in
Juraj Slafkovsky along with former Captain and fan favorite Anders Lee. Slaf is
coming off a breakout season and hopes to join Chytil to form the most
dangerous scoring duo in the league. The second line will be led by budding
star Tyson Foerster, also coming off a breakout season, prized free agent
acquisition Nathan MacKinnon and Anton Lundell. MacKinnon, who will be bringing
extra motivation for a ring after several down seasons in St. Louis, should
help mentor Foerster and Lundell to complete one of the fastest second lines in
the FHNL. Lastly, Boston will feature a dominating third line that will create
mismatches for opposing teams. Timo Meier, who has become a leader both on the
ice and in the locker room, will skate alongside veteran Sean Couturier and
former top prospect Morgan Frost. Couturier, who was a cap casualty in a late
offseason trade with Washington, will bring grit and experience to a bottom six
that grew tired down the stretch last season. Frost has all the tools to become
an impact player and will be given the opportunity after signing a two year
deal in Boston. With three scoring lines and a ton of experience, the Bruins
offseason looks primed to control the pace of play and put plenty of pucks
in the back of the net.
With all the focus on the high-flying scorers in Boston, the
true grit of the Bruins skate on the defensive side of the ice. The top two
parings from last year return as the two defensive leaders, Cody Franson and
Jonas Brodin, continue to lead the younger generation. Franson coming off a
bounceback season will be skating with young shutdown defensemen Jake
Sanderson. While Brodin will support the lightning fast Adam Boqvist on the
second pairing. The third pair consists of young enforcer Kevin Bahl and rookie
sniper Jack Rathbone, who neither should be slept on to provide meaningful
minutes. The defense looks to only improve with grizzled veteran Ty Wishart
hanging up his skates for a spot on the bench as the new defensive assistant
coach.
With such a young team, consistency in the crease has been
vital to the success in BeanTown. The veteran 1A/1B tandem will be returning
from last year, where Andrei Vasilevski looks to lead the charge. Future Hall
of Famer Semen Varlamov returns for one more season hoping to finish out his
distinguished career hoisting a cup. The experience of this duo will be
critical to support a young defensive core and help mentor goalie of the future,
Tobias Leinonen.
