Will This Be a Breakout Season for Svechnikov?

By Toby Rice

Although the Florida Panthers are a lackluster 3-6-1 in their first 10 games this season, it's obviously too early to throw in the towel. While the team play has been less stellar than expected, some eyes are on the early production of right winger, Andrei Svechnikov. In the first 10 games, Svechnikov has 10 points, all assists.

10 points in 10 games, on pace for 82 points. Will he keep that pace? Probably not. However, he has yet to have that breakout season where he leads the team in points, or tops his career high. In his first four pro seasons, Svechnikov has a career high of 62 points last season. The year before he achieved 61 points. In 2027 he recorded 59, and in the following season he had a career low of 42 points.

With those numbers, and a hot start, Andrei Svechnikov is poised to have a breakout year. "We like the start. He's contributing on the score sheet, and he's setting up his line mates," said the team's coach. "We still haven't found our perfect line pairings this season, and we're experimenting, but when we do I think Andrei is going to flourish."

All eyes are on Svechnikov and the Panthers as they try to shed this early season slump.
