Don't Sweatt It

By Jeff Nagle

This is Bob Cobb reporting to you from Rumors Bar and Grill with information about our boys from the Big Apple.

Though this reporter is loyal to his Rags, I'm also a fan of the league in general and it's exciting to see some new life coming into this fresh season. Of course, changes also bring the inevitable control battles and the usual suspects have flexed their off-season 'muscle' in various ways. But as with anything, you take the good with the bad and make moves accordingly.

While the Rags were forced to make a few unexpected moves, they once again come into the season with one of the top-ranked defense/goalie combinations league-wide. After allowing the least goals of any team last season, it looks very possible that a repeat performance could be coming. That's what we're hoping for anyways, because the team didn't really add any extra 'firepower' offensively.

We reached GM Erickson to ask him why they didn't pursue more offense for the top 6 and his response was brief:

"I wouldn't worry that, Bobby." - GM Erickson

One thing fans are excited to see is the debut of Mr. William (Billy) Sweatt on the team's 4th line. He has been impressive during practice and his abundance of speed earned him the chance to make a splash and stick with the big club this season. The Rangers already have one of the faster teams in the FNHL and Wild Bill being out there only adds to the nastiness.

After a 4-3 loss on the road in Edmonton, the team looks to impress in front of the home fans against Calgary tonight. Prediction: Price shines as the Rags roll to a 4-1 win
