Rangers Hold at Deadline

By Jeff Nagle

The New York Rangers were not active players at the deadline, while they kept the phone line open, nobody came calling.

"I wasn't really expecting any calls. We had some tire kicking earlier in the week, but obviously nothing came to fruition. We're happy with what we have, so I didn't see any reason to go buying at the deadline." said GM Nagle.

The Rangers as you may be aware, made two significant splashes earlier in the season that not only kept them competitive for now, but also, to restock the severely bare cupboards of youth.

"There weren't many trades out there that would have made any sense. We have good veteran talent that will be here to help along the young guys we have coming up in the next few years. And we have a bunch of youth that are primed for the challenge to making the leap. On top of that, we have dozens of draft picks over the next few years that will continue to restock the shelves as they get emptied through promotions.

"Any deal at the deadline would likely have not made much sense for us. We have a good balance, and we hope to keep it that way for the forseeable future. Any trade today would have been a trade just to make one, and I just don't work that way. I avoid the hype." added the GM

The Rangers are a longshot to make the playoffs, and at this point will hope to keep fans entertained and invest their time in the coming months at scouting for the draft. With eight picks -three in the first round, the Rangers have a lot of homework to do that will in hope shape this team back into contention in the years ahead.
