Future Hall Of Famer Resigns

By Ken Knoph

(Phoenix, AZ). Fan favorite and definitely a GM favorite, Center Derick Brassard has resigned for two more years with the Arizona Coyotes.  After his first full season at Arizona, GM Ken Knoph drafted Derick Brassard with the seventh pick in the first round in 2010.  Derick became an instant starter and became the understudy of Captian Jeff Taffe at the time.  Since then Brassard has been nothing but consistent scoring 40 points or more 17 of 19 seasons so far. During that time he has passed Jeff Woywitka for the teams all-time hits list during the 2026 season, passed Jeff Taffe as the teams all-time assists leader during the 2025 season and the teams all-time points leader in 2027.  He is still chasing the teams all-time goals record held by Taffe, needling 55 more to tie.  It's asking a lot for the 38 year old center to produce those 55 goals or more in two seasons, but if anyone could it would be Derick.

The Future Hall Of Famer will also be considered as one of the most complete forwards in the FNHL history.  Derick is one of 5 players to amass 3500 Hits, 400 Goals and 1100 points in their career, the others are Brenden Morrow, Scott Hartnell, Zach Stortini, and Marian Gaborik.  Brassard ranks in the Top 75 in Goals, Top 30 in Assists, Top 50 in Points and Top 25 in Hits all-time in the FNHL.  With 2 more seasons he will only climb higher.
