Rangers Season Preview

Only way is up

By Jeff Nagle

Over the past 3 seasons the New York Rangers have been a team in transition. Dealing away star assets for a plethora of prospects and draft capital. And now here we are, at the pinnacle of the rebuild. It's only up from here.

With the farm team stocked with rookies and blue-chip prospects, the system is in place to begin feeding the pro team year-over-year with young talent. With the likes of Dalibor Dvorsky, Mackie Samoskevich, and Jean-Luc Foudy on the farm knocking on the door, the current group of young talent already on the pro will be challenged to up their game to maintain their spots for 2033.

The Rangers will be leaning on the likes of Seth Jarvis, Hendrix Lapierre, Cole Sillinger, and Zachary L'Heureux (all 23 and younger) to take that next step on the pro, and prove that the Rangers are becoming an elite Eastern Conference team. When you throw in 20 year-old phenom defenseman Connor Clifton and 22 year old star goaltender Jesper Wallstedt, you have all the makings of a very dynamic and evolving young team.

"Three years ago when I took over, our farm team literally had one player under 23 years old. As of today, our farm system now has 17 players 23 and under. On top of that, we have a stockpile of draft picks coming our way. We now have one of the most youth-stocked teams in the FNHL, and we intend on using this youth to turn ourselves into a perpetual winner. We just need these young men to take that next step, and we're confident that they will." said GM Nagle.
