Anaheim Looks to Solidify Back 4 in Off-season

By Dillon McGillivray

Anaheim’s GM is lost for words as last season the team posted a record of 32-41-5-4. Which is only a 0.445 win percentage. That’s a career low for GM McGillivray since taking over the team. “I’m not too sure what happened this season. The team was putting up goals and our net-minders were stopping them. It just never seemed to be enough to get the win” McGillivray said in an interview earlier today. He also hinted that the primary focus of the off-season was to work on the defensive end of their game.

Anaheim has a solid forward lineup going into the next season. They have solid performing veterans with the likes of JT Miller, Jordan Schroeder, and James Neal. As well as the young and upcoming stars that have yet to hit their peak with Martin Necas, Lucas Raymond, and Serron Noel. Anaheim doesn’t anticipate to make many moves on the forward front in the off-season, possibly just the addition of a couple depth players to solidify the 3rd line.

Anaheim's main focus will be finding a 2nd line pairing on defense to really give them a fighting chance for a play-off opportunity next season. With Philip Larsen and Charlie McAvoy heading up the first line pairing, youngster Victor Soderstrom is going to need some support on the second line. Roman Josi will drop to a 3rd line pairing with another depth player that Anaheim plans on picking up.

“I’m very optimistic about the coming season after what I thought was a bust of a season. I know I have a great squad of both veteran and young talented players and I can’t wait for them to show everyone what there made of in the coming season” GM McGillivray concluded.
