Winnipeg Jets: Article 1

By Skylar Barth

Well well well, that time of the year has come. It is a new era. Removed from the flurry of activity, GM Barth is taking a step back this year. Still trying to punch my ticket.

And that is what leads us to this mighty article. 200 words.

Let's take a look at the current state of events for the Winnipeg Jets.

4-3-2-1 (blast off)

Is the current record the Jets hold. That is good enough for 7th in the West. And honestly, as long as we can sit around .500 on the year, we would be more than happy.

Contract negotiations went south with multiple agents. "It is what it is" GM Barth said disheartedly. We have other irons in the fire and management is looking to sell the franchise. There are lots of questions around the organization.

Politics aside, the 3rd and 4th lines for the Jets are non existant. They are running two top tier lines. 5 STRONG defenders, for the first time in a long time, and a solid, vezina winning goaltender.

If there was more depth up front, younger, better, for cheaper, then I'm sure there would be some play to be made, but, as previously stated, it is what it is. Aggressive goals, and future planning and speculation played heavy into the hand that the Jets GM is currently dealt.

This is the bed that was made. Now let us lay.

The goal this year will be similar to that of the last, keep it at .500, make the palyoffs, make money, be true on the endorsements.

263 word count.
