Tampa Bay Opening Night

By Dave Semyck

The season starts today for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and what a season it should be. The fans are worried about the potential "rebuild" that may or may not be going on with the team and the management is pushing down their throats that we want to be successful. Which one is it? Management held a Zoom call with season ticket holders last night and had the following to say.

"We will make the postseason this year, we can promise you that. If by some unbelievable threat that doesnt happen, make sure to understand that we are doing everything in our powers to achieve that goal. Sure, it wouldnt be that hard to completely tear this down and rebuild but thats not our intention. Our intention is to remain competitive and slowly have an influx of new talent. Our top players can not shoulder the load for this team any longer and we need more depth to become competitive. We are not one of the top teams in the league and I am not sure we can compete with them this year. That is why we need to slowly get better and better. This year, maybe a 7th or 8th seed, next year maybe a 6th or 7th, and then hopefully a top 4 seed. At bare minimum fans should be excited to see the progress the team will be making towards the future and at least have an exciting season to watch as we make a dive towards the playoffs."

The season kicks off tonight against Nashville, game recap will come tomorrow.
